Bossier City Police to crack down on loud music in
cars
BOSSIER CITY, La. Bossier City police today warned drivers that they are
going to crack down on people who have booming music coming from their cars,
loud mufflers or windows tinted too dark.
The city council next week will vote on a proposed ordinance to transfer the
city's loud music ordinance from the criminal code to the traffic code.
Police Chief Mike Halphen says that ordinance, which is expected to pass,
would allow officers to simply write a ticket rather than make a criminal
case.
The ordinance would classify loud
music as a sound system that could be
heard at least 25 feet away.
Police say the action is in response to citizen complaints.
Officers will be getting meters to checks windows suspected of being tinted
too dark.
The loud music fine would be 100 to
500 dollars. Illegal window tint would
carry a fine of 150 dollars for a
first offense, increasing to 350 dollars
for a third offense
