Problems With Noise? New
Group Formed To Combat Noise Pollution In Vallejo.
The number one
complaint heard about Vallejo is noise pollution.
Problems range from
inconsiderate neighbors with power tools at odd hours to extremely loud
motorcycles and cars.
A new group has
been formed to try and pressure the city to more effectively deal with noise
pollution in Vallejo. The goal is to strengthen noise ordinances and
enforcement, encourage loud neighbors and businesses to limit their pollution,
and help make Vallejo a beautiful place to live.
This morning, I've been
listening to streams of very loud motorcycles
rattling my house as they
go by. Their lack of consideration for our
neighborhood has prompted
me to form this group. Noise has been a constant problem, including loud
parties from the nearby GVRD community center, to rude motorcyclists and cars
that intentionally modify their vehicles to be louder , to neighbors parties,
industrial noise from nearby facilities, etc,
etc.
Some years ago, I
attended a community forum hosted by a local improvement group. In the
beginning we were asked what our number one complaint was. By far the largest
response was (drum roll please) noise. Unfortunately, when I asked the
question, what about problems with moving vehicles (exhaust and music) the host
basically said that there wasn't much to do about moving vehicles. He also said
he used to own a motorcycle shop, which I think might have had some influence
on his take on motorcycle noise.
There is strength in
numbers and hopefully we can work together to come to our common goal. If you,
like thousands of Vallejo residents, find tha tnoise has impacted your quality of life. Please join us,
together we can
make Vallejo a pleasant
place to live:
