NOISY NEIGHBOUR PLANS TO MOVE ON

11:33 - 20 July 2004

A Noisy neighbour who has twice been jailed for making too much racket is planning to put his house on the market. Peter Whitehouse was jailed last month on two occasions for disturbing neighbours around his home in Pembroke Court, Westlands with loud music.

Now officials working for Newcastle Borough Council have revealed Whitehouse is to put his house up for sale. The revelation came at

the authority's Public Protection Committee last night, where councillors praised residents for giving evidence against their noisy neighbour.

Whitehouse, aged 38 was first jailed on June 3 for causing a noise nuisance at his large detached home. He served half of a 14-day prison sentence.

But on June 17 he was back in court again after residents complained of the noise coming from his house again.

He was jailed for two months for contempt of court at Stoke-on-Trent County Court after breaching an order preventing him disturbing his neighbours.

Updating councillors with the latest developments in the case, Ian Clarke, the council's community services manager, said: "Mr Whitehouse is in the process of putting the premises up for sale and is looking to move out of the area."

Cross Heath councillor John Williams said:

"The system worked and what was important in this case was that the residents came out and complained."
