Muskegon Heights police officers on
routine patrol and those participating
in a special detail last weekend arrested
five people for drug offenses and
confiscated a total of $3,360 cash.
The largest of the busts was
1:33 p.m. Sunday when an officer stopped the
driver of a 2005 Dodge Magnum
at Peck Street and Sherman Boulevard for
playing loud music.
The vehicle also had been traveling 45
mph in a 25-mph zone, police said.
The driver, a 28-year-old Muskegon
Heights man, had a suspended license, the
inside of the car smelled like marijuana
and an open alcoholic beverage
bottle sat in the drink holder, police
said.
He was already going to jail, but when
Officer Christian Hanson finished
checking, he reported finding a total of
42 Ecstasy pills, five ounces of
marijuana and four Vicodin
pills.
Police said the driver also had two cash
bundles of $1,000 each and another
wad of $501 cash. After seizing the drugs
and cash, police also confiscated
the late-model car.
