Police arrested a 28-year-old Fall River man wanted by Rhode Island authorities on a felony conspiracy charge after the car he was riding in was stopped for an excessively loud muffler, Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins told the Forum.
Officer Paul Hamilton was on Granite Street early on the morning of Nov. 9 when he saw a Honda Accord stopped at the light at Granite and Common Streets.
"When the light changed and the Honda accelerated, Officer Hamilton heard an excessively loud exhaust noise and noticed that the muffler had been modified," Jenkins said.
After the Honda was stopped, the female driver stated that the car was not hers, but belonged to her boyfriend, Daryus L. Pierce, who was sitting in the passenger's seat.
When Hamilton conducted his investigation, he determined that the inspection sticker was fraudulent and Pierce was wanted in Rhode Island, Jenkins said.
