I, too am fed up with loud noise that permeates into my house while we are trying to sleep, watch T.V. or entertaining.
I get loud music from neighbors in three directions around me. I have cars passing day and night rattling my windows, and pictures on the wall, inside my house. We are exposed to this type of noise on a daily basis. Week-ends are even worse.
I have my 90 year old mother, with chronic renal failure, that lives with us, a husband that has asthma, heart condition, and sleep apnea. I have hypertension and have not been able to get a full nights sleep in two years, since all this noise has come to our neighborhood..
I have lived in this neighborhood for 40 years and have never had this kind of problem until this neighborhood started growing, very fast, within the last two years.
I have had the Sheriffs office say there is nothing they, or I, can do about it until 10 P.M., and all they can do, then, is ask the neighbor to turn it down. Nothing can be done about the passing cars.
They claim the law is not descriptive enough for them to do anything about it. Why can't they give tickets, to raise revenue, like is given to traffic violators, throwing trash on the road, etc.. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that 25 percent of vehicle accidents are caused by driver distraction. Drivers experience reduced reaction times listening to loud music and adjusting the controls on their car stereo equipment. The pounding bass noise decreases drivers' ability to hear pedestrians and other vehicles. That also includes emergency vehicles, such as police cars, ambulances and firetrucks.
Our neighborhood does not have sidewalks. Children, and adults, walk along the streets, at all hours, especially, when the school bus picks up, or lets children off, in the street. This is an accident waiting to happen.
I live in Harris County, Texas. Something must be done to get our neighborhood back to "normal". I have seen neighbors almost come to blows over the noise. This is a balloon ready to pop!
Please help with this problem as it has caused our quality of life to diminish greatly.
A very concerned citizen, A. Ivey
