To whom it may concern,

If I could change one thing on this planet it would be to reduce the noise level which normal, rational people are subjected to everyday. Every time I hear a car drive by with it's music rattling the walls I am instantly filled with rage. You no longer are safe from exposure even in your own home. In my eyes it's tantamount to breaking into someone's home and forcing them to listen to ear piercing, mindless garbage.

Where has all the respect for human life gone? It's fascinating how we as a society form groups to stamp out things we find offensive or dangerous to ourselves. Smoking in public places is all but eliminated, cigarette commercials, hard liquor advertisements; the lists are endless. Yet everyday the car manufacturers and the electronics manufacturers are putting more and more powerful pieces of ear-shattering junk in the hands of ill-mannered, immature children.

If you are seen by a police officer walking down a public street with a beer in your hand or smoking some pot; or if you're not using a turn signal or parked illegally; all of these things will bring you some type of instant punishment in the form of a fine, arrest, ticket, etc. However, our police across the country look the other way when a boom box is blasting away. Have you ever tried to call in a noise complaint? Do you know what type of treatment they give those calls?

I would sign a petition or give any backing to a bill that would require our law enforcement officers to stop and ticket anyone in violation of the local noise ordinances. I'm sure that I can't be alone in this desire.

If I could wish for one invention it would be a button that I could push each time an offending boom box is blasting its poison in my vicinity and it would kill all the electronic circuitry in the offending vehicle/home. Any inventors out there working on this? :)  well, I've said my peace, thanks for the forum to make our thoughts and feelings known.

Best regards,
